Taking on Disability Together
Easter Seals provides services for children and adults with disabilities and other special needs, and support to their families.
About Easter Seals
Easter Seals presents a series of workshops for parents and educators involved with elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Easter Seals is pleased to present this valuable training series for parents, educators, child care providers and professionals. Also, thanks to a generous grant from the Safeway Foundation, we are able to offer these sessions either free of charge, or for a nominal fee, depending on the individual workshop.
THE P.L.A.Y. PROJECTTM
The P.L.A.Y. ProjectTM (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) is a nationally recognized program that provides in-home training and support for families of children age 14 months to 6 years with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Furthermore, this intensive intervention model is designed to help parents make meaningful connections with their child through play… connections that bring the child out of isolation and into a place where communication, social skills and relationships can develop.
GET HELP WITH THE TRANSITION FROM SCHOOL TO WORK
Easter Seals provides services to help young adults with disabilities prepare for a smooth, productive transition from school to the workforce. We work closely with local high schools to develop connecting activities to build and maintain bridges between school, work, residential options and recreational opportunities for students after they leave school.
Medical rehabilitation focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disabilities to help individuals live with greater independence. Easter Seals medical professionals work together to restore function lost due to temporary conditions such as lower back pain, or permanent disabilities, such as traumatic brain injury. Easter Seals also promotes quality of life for individuals with disabilities through education and prevention programs.
Easter Seals Child Development Center Network is the largest provider of inclusive child care in the United States. With nearly 80 centers, Easter Seals serves 7,000 young children and their families, in a setting where children with disabilities and special needs comprise 25 percent of enrollment.
CAMPING & RECREATION
Easter Seals is the largest provider of recreation and camping services for people with disabilities in the country. The programs of this charity provide an opportunity for children and adults to participate in extracurricular, educational, and personal development activities. Also, Easter Seals recreation programs take many forms, from sports and fitness activities, to after school play, to Saturday-night social gatherings and community outings.
